Getting
Started:
Your
home bike will do to get you started but all pegs, stands, bells etc MUST be
removed for the safety of
yourself
and other riders. Handle bars must have
handle grips that cover the exposed ends of the handle bars.
Your
first 3 nights are free which is an opportunity to see if you enjoy the sport
before buying extra equipment.
However
you must have long sleeves, long pants, a full face helmet, gloves and shoes
and socks. Some riders
are
now preferring to use short sleeves and shorts but if you choose this option
elbow pads and knee pads are
compulsory. They must be the rigid plastic type that is
purchased from bike shops. If shorts are
used they must
be
either denim or of a tear resistant material – also only available from the
bike shops. No surfy type shorts are
permitted.
Full
face helmets can be hired from the club at $2.00 per night. Gloves are available for borrowing. The club also
have
a small selection of bikes that can be hired at $2.00 per night on a short term
basis only. The purpose of bike
hireage
is in the event of a breakdown with a riders own bike or as an opportunity to
try a proper BMX bike before
purchasing
your own. All equipment must be returned
at the end of the night.
