APRIL NEWSLETTER 2007

Good luck and best wishes to all riders competing at the Nationals at Easter.  If this is your first Nationals it will be an awesome event for you with about 800 riders.  Do not be overwhelmed – just imagine it’s like another club night.  Ride fair and do your best.  Set yourself a goal that is achievable and, most of all, have fun and enjoy the racing and the weekend.

Also, good luck and best wishes go to our Mighty 11 trialists - Liam Robinson, Siobhan Quintal, Shannon Slegh, and our Senior Test Team trialist -Tyler Quintal.  These riders are trialling on Good Friday and once again we wish you all the best.

A note for parents – you will have an expectation that your child will do well.  Just let them ride within their capabilities.  Some children are not that competitive and may need a bit more confidence so do not put unnecessary pressure on them.  Most of all be encouraging and give praise for whatever the achievement may be.  That way the riders learn to enjoy the sport and the successes will eventually come.

CLUB NIGHTS:

There will be no club nights during the school holidays.  Club nights will resume after the school holiday break on 25th April.

HAMILTON BMX CLUB SCHOLARSHIP 2006/07

Once again the Hamilton BMX Club is offering a scholarship for 1 or 2 riders to go to Australia to experience international competition in recognition of their commitment and achievement with the Hamilton BMX Club. Last year this was to attend the Tri-Series in NSW with Lake Macquarie – our sister club – as one of the tracks that will be raced during the weekend.  This weekend of racing is in September and you will be billeted.  Last September was our first visit to this club as our new sister club and our riders really enjoyed themselves and came away with new friendships and good memories of their weekend.  In March during the Mooloo Champs Lake Macquarie sent their first riders to us and they also enjoyed their experience.  Below is the criteria for the scholarship and applications must be in by 1st May.

Registered riders with a full licence with the Hamilton BMX Club.  Those who are under 12 years of age are to be accompanied by a parent.

Riders to be capable of spending time away from home and parents.

Riders to have attended 75% of Club nights, the Mooloo Champs, a Hamilton Open Trophy Meeting and one other race meeting.

Riders to be good sports and have positive attitudes.

Riders selected to have a 2 year stand down before reapplying.

Scholarship is for airfares to Australia and a monetary contribution towards expenses.

Riders to pay for all personal expenses.  Riders to obtain their own passport at their expense.

CVs must be presented prior to 1st May 2007
